The Butcher The Baker Management Company, Inc.

While dating in high school, Allen and Lee Ann Johnston met a gentleman named Jerry Richardson. Lee Ann was working at the YMCA and Mr. Richardson recruited her to work for their franchised concept, Hardee's, a fast-food, charbroiled hamburger restaurant. As Allen finished Clemson, Mr. Richardson recruited him to work for Quincy's, a Family Steakhouse concept, which had recently been acquired. Both, Allen and Lee Ann, progressed up the corporate ladder and, as of 1983, Lee Ann was serving as Mr. Richardson's administrative assistant, and Allen was a District Manager overseeing 5 Quincy's restaurants based in Spartanburg, South Carolina that also served as management training centers.
It was in the fall of 1984 that Jerry Richardson approached Allen about the popular hamburger craze and pursuing the acquisition of franchise rights for Fuddruckers for the Carolinas.
The Spartanburg Fuddruckers Restaurant opened on September 5, 1985. This new restaurant with a funny name fast became popular in the Southeast. With the success of Spartanburg, Allen and Lee Ann, along with Frank Watson, proceeded in the development of Fuddruckers in the Carolinas. Allen and Lee Ann converted a room over their garage into a corporate office, and for the first time, were running and operating every aspect of their own business.
In May of 1991, Fuddruckers in Greenville opened its doors on Woodruff Road. In the fall of 1992, a second location opened in Greenville in the downtown Central Business District. In 1993, The Butcher-The Baker companies were recognized by Fuddruckers and awarded "International Franchisee of the Year". In 1994, The Butcher-The Baker opened their fourth restaurant in Kingsport, Tennessee. In 1996, The Butcher-The Baker again was recognized and awarded International Franchisee of the Year award.
The Butcher-The Baker companies acquired both Fuddruckers Restaurants in Myrtle Beach in January of 1998 and on May 26, 1998, opened Sevierville, Tennessee. In 1999, The Butcher-The Baker was recognized again and awarded the "Founders Award" at the International Convention.
In 2002, The Butcher-The Baker opened Fuddruckers in Anderson, South Carolina. Three years later, we opened another Fuddruckers in Greer, South Carolina. In August 2008, we became a Bojangles' Franchisee by acquiring our first location in Duncan, South Carolina under the corporate name of Chix and Bix, LLC. In September of 2009, we opened our second Bojangles' Restaurant in Lyman, South Carolina.

Fuddruckers History
FUDDRUCKERS prepares the "World's Greatest Hamburgers". These words are not so easy to live by. To say that we are the greatest implies that we will serve the best.
So what gives us the right to say this?
Every day at Fuddruckers, we cut and grind our meat fresh, we bake our buns and cookies fresh, and we cut and slice our produce fresh, all this on a daily basis. We serve the "WORLD'S GREATEST HAMBURGERS" in the cleanest restaurants by the World's Finest Associates who use only the highest quality ingredients available.
FUDDRUCKERS was developed by Philip J. Romano in March of 1980. He had a passion for hamburgers, actually HE LOVED THEM. Having owned restaurants before, he had a strong desire to start a restaurant that served food he loved… THE HAMBURGER. Romano had a passion to make this hamburger the best way possible. In searching for a restaurant that served this hamburger, he had trouble finding that one place. So he looked at the items which would make up this hamburger and became determined to create the "WORLD'S GREATEST HAMBURGERS". He simply determined that the finest hamburger was made up of some very basic components: the MEAT, the BUN, the PRODUCE, a very clean restaurant, and the dedicated Associates. So he looked at each component and set out to determine how to make the BEST of each of these items so he could create the "World's Greatest Hamburger"!
